I have said this in a number of other threads but i am posting it here to hope that those who believe in the message will actually stand behind it by continuing to make comments and award it and keep it up on the front page of the discussions tab ahead of all the other nonsense.
The current combat form particularly melee, but generally all over the world, is essentially an element that urgently needs expansion for better game play and retention, and to close the gap in gear.
Present problems: Combat is exclusively about movement and we can call it positioning in addition to the equipment you're wearing and what your health bar is. Other tools may contribute up until you enter melee.
This is not a major issue because Dark and darkers combat and combat in this state is exactly like mine craft, which is less complex because mine craft moves faster forcing players to think faster and you're able to use less items during combat to get the upper hand.
That's sure to cause upset to the majority of people, and it's right to. but its important to put it out there, because minecraft also comes with the ability to build, manipulate the environment, and massive gathering to deal with. With darker and darker, more intense gameplay, the primary focus is combat. Everything else serves that combat and you have no distractions from it.
Here are my proposed changes:
Blocking: Get rid of directional it. If you initiate the block when an enemy is directly in front of you, your character automatically blocks in a way that helps block the attack.
