Tadalafil (20 mg) is the active component in Tadafem. Tadalafil widens arteries and improves blood flow to specific body areas by relaxing the smooth muscles in blood vessel walls. Tadalafil specifically functions by blocking phosphodiesterase 5's (PDE5) ability to break down cGMP. To increase blood flow, cGMP encourages blood vessels to relax or widen. Other brands of Tadalafil help with pulmonary arterial hypertension, and Tadalafil is also used to help men with the symptoms of benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH). This medication does not improve a man's libido or treat erectile dysfunction.
