To get FSSAI registration, an applicant must fill out an application known as Form A. This application is then sent to the Food and Safety Department, which may accept or reject it within 7 days.

The apex body is responsible for laying down science-based standards for articles of food and to regulate their manufacture, storage, distribution, sale and import to ensure that they are safe for consumption by consumers.
As a result, companies that are involved in high-risk areas like infant products or prepared foods such as catering will be required to undergo audits by recognised third-party agencies. In addition, central licence holders that manufacture food products for particular nutritional purposes will also need to get their operations audited by a third-party agency.
