These cups have become a perfect alternative to the disposable plastic cups and are ideal for both cold and hot drinks. However, as an owner of these cups, it is your responsibility to clean them properly for maintaining their quality and increasing their longevity.

So, what are the most effective tips for cleaning silicone cups?

Wash immediately after use

In order to prevent stains in your cups, it is important that you rinse them immediately after use. Wash them with hot water for removing residue left after you have completed drinking. This will not only remove stains but also odors coming from the cup. Please do not use abrasive scrubbers since they can leave a scratch on the surface of the cups.

Use a mild detergent for cleaning

When you are cleaning your silicone cups, make sure that the detergent you are using is mild. A mild detergent will be gentle on the cups. Please try to avoid the use of harsh chemicals, bleach or abrasive chemicals which can damage the structural integrity of the cups. You can use a sponge or a soft bristled brush for cleaning your cups.

Soak the cups in hot water

If you find that your cups have stubborn stains, soak them in hot water. Stubborn stains cannot be removed easily and soaking them on hot water loosens them to some extent. Just fill your bowl or tub with hot water and add a small amount of mild detergent to it. Put your cups in the hot water and let them soak for a few minutes.  After sometime, take them out and scrub them gently with either a sponge or a brush and then wash them thoroughly with hot water.

Use baking soda and vinegar for cleaning

Although soaking in hot water is an effective way for removing stains, it may not always work. If you find that this method has failed to remove the stains properly from your cups, you can use baking soda and vinegar for cleaning the cups. You can mix parts of baking soda and water in order to make a paste. After making the paste, you can apply it on the stains. Wait for sometime, and then wash it with hot water.

You can use vinegar also for cleaning the cups. Just mix parts of white vinegar with hot water and soak the cups in that mixture for few seconds. After this, wash them properly using hot water.
