SIDE EFFECTS OF HCQS 400MG TABLET 10S:
HCQS 400 hair loss, photosensitivity, tinnitus, myopathy (long-term therapy). Psychosis, convulsions, leukopenia and rarely aplastic anemia, hepatitis, gastrointestinal disturbances, dizziness, hypokalaemia, headache, pruritus, urticaria, difficulty in visual accommodation. Hair loss, hair pigment discoloration, blue-black pigmentation of mucous membranes and skin, photosensitivity, tinnitus, hearing impairment, nerve deafness, neuromyopathy and myopathy, including cardiomyopathy.

DRUG INTERACTIONS OF HCQS 400MG TABLET 10S:
Cimetidine may increase serum levels of hydroxychloroquine. Its absorption can be reduced with kaolin or Mg trisilicate. Avoid digoxin and alcohol. Increased risk of ventricular arrhythmias when used with halofantrine. Concomitant use with mefloquine may increase the risk of seizures.

CONTRAINDICATIONS OF HCQS 400MG TABLET 10S:
Alterations in the retina or visual field, known hypersensitivity. Long-term use in children.
MECHANISM OF ACTION OF HCQS 400MG TABLET 10S:
Hydroxychloroquine is a 4-aminoquinoline antimalarial with actions similar to those of chloroquine, but is used primarily in the treatment of SLE and rheumatoid arthritis. It interferes with the function of the digestive vacuole within susceptible malarial parasites by increasing the pH and impairing lysosomal degradation of Hb, thus preventing normal cellular function of susceptible parasites. Onset: Rheumatic disease: It may take 4 to 6 weeks for response to be seen. Absorption: Oral absorption is rapid and complete. Distribution: Protein binding: 55%. Metabolism: hepatic route. Excretion: urinary route as metabolites and unchanged drug. Elimination half-life: 32-50 days.

SPECIAL PRECAUTIONS FOR HCQS 400MG TABLETS 10S:
Hepatic or renal insufficiency, severe gastrointestinal disorders, porphyria, psoriasis, neurological disorders, particularly a history of epilepsy, myasthenia gravis, G6PD deficiency, pregnancy, lactation. Monitor blood count in patients receiving prolonged therapy. Perform basic and periodic 6-month ophthalmological examinations, perform periodic tests for muscle weakness.
